Wispy's Spirited Away Review

Another good anime for me, but then again this seems to be one of those anime where you like it or you don't (ill try and give a mixed review ^^) btw I'm using the other version of spoilers cause its easier to add and looks nicer (and works better) if you have more than one spoiler ^^

Plot - Its a nice story of a young girl, Chihiro who, through a mysterious tunnel, ends up in a magical world where her parents get turned into pigs! The story to me seems kind of empty but, on the plus, everything is completely unexpected and its good enough to satisfy adults but simple enough for kids to follow (its a family film - One of the few family fantasy films that I've seen and I think it did an excellent job of appealing to both).
One thing I hated about the plot is that it doesn't seem like there's enough of it. The story feels like it deserves a series not a two hour movie, especially the time she spends working at the strange bath house ^^ but I suppose that would make the ending even worse then it already is. I'm not a fan of those everything's a dream/back to normal endings ^^
Concluding the plot section I give this a 7/10, it is a good story, but a bad ending (not terrible) and a feeling that its too short let it down.

Artwork - This amazed me, its simply fantastic. Studio Ghibli does an excellent job in animating in all the films, it kind of makes you forget about some of the plot holes and continuity errors ^^.
One complaint I do have in this department is that some stuff looks way to simple like no-face, just a black shape with a mask, I think they could put more effort here. I was however impressed with the river spirit
The film proves you don't need state of the art CGI to look amazing so I'm going to give it a 8/10 here (it loses two points cause some things do just look too simple)

Music - If I'm being honest i didn't notice much of the music, which is a good sign cause it means I didn't hate it! I'm going give it a 5/10 cause it does its job but nothings really catchy. Also (I can't comment on the original cause I was watching the dub) the main characters voice doesn't seem quite right, however I can you do forget this fact about 30mins into the movie. Overall a 6/10 for doing its job

Overall its a great film, but to short but if you like the genre (fantasy -without much violence I should add-/family) I say its a must watch (or if you need to entertain kids for about two hours) otherwise i don't think you would like it
-Final score 7/10

hoa's review of The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi

Plot:
The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi is a story about a high school freshman who believes in Aliens, espers and time travellers. On the first day of school she introduced herself in a spectacularly bizzare way, the class didn't know whether it was a joke or if she was actually serious about it. But one boy Kyon questions her about this and the only response he would ever get would be "Moron", "idiot" or "Who would care!" until one day he realises that she changes her hair style for everyday of the week and uses a different coloured ribbon for everyday of the week. He inquires about this and so the story starts.

Story:
This is a very long anime in terms of storyline, even though it is 14 episodes. The creator has placed the episodes in different order as to keep you watching what happens next or how that story began. The storyline for this is original, too original for my likes.

Beware the following contains a spoiler:

The World Revolves around Haruhi, and so aliens and such are created

At the very start you are left in confusion due to the fact that it Begins showing you the movie that they are producing and even though it has no true relationship to the storyline but it is a must watch to understand what happens later.
7/10

Music
personally, i did not like the music in this except

Beware the following contains a spoiler - Highlight to view (can't work out how to do two boxes in the same go...)
the episode where they have the cultural festival and Yuki and Haruhi perform. I liked the first song

put plainly, I myself am more rock orientated so I guess people who are into pop might like the OP and ED songs more. I did not like the songs but I do admit they were catchy.
6/10

Graphics:
The Colour use in this was bright and extravagant. Colour was suitable for the right spots and it wasn't too dark. The actual graphics, the style it was drawn in was great, nothing out of proportion or nothing that looks absurdly silly.
10/10

Overall:
to watch this you need to be one of those people who can sustain a thrashing of a few boring episodes, and be able to keep up with the story even though the stories are all over the place. The good thing is the ending suited the story, it did not leave you hanging and it explains everything you need to know.

Story: 7/10
Music: 6/10
Graphics: 10/10
________
Overall: 8/10

IMO this is a must watch for the highschool style fans also for the slice of life fans. You also need to be one of those people who understand life with alot more depth to pick bits of the storyline.

Jomommaz's Trigun Review

Plot: Vash the Stampede is a gunman on the run with a 60 billion double dollar bounty on his head which has made it difficult for him to go anywhere without being chased and shot at. Because of the bounty, every town he ever visits ends up being destroyed because of his pursuers, but miraculously no one ever gets killed. Meryl and Milly are two insurance agents that have been sent to find Vash the Stampede and keep him under surveillance so no more damage is caused. Meryl, who leads the pair, can't believe that the man they have met can possibly be the legendary gunman. This spikey haired, gangly, and blonde young man is extremely friendly, a pacifist, hates blood and suicide, absolutely loves donuts, and is a dork and a crybaby... there is no way he could be Vash the Stampede, a notorious outlaw. However, there's more to Vash than just smiles and donuts; a dark past that he would like to leave behind is hounding him, and some people are pursuing him for other reasons than the bounty.

Finally a great western-style anime with the perfect dub to boot. This Show has already be considered the best dubbed anime from Japan to North America due to the perfect voices which are arguably better than the originals. Trigun is the story of a man wanted for 60 billion double dollars..... later in the story as it becomes more complex there is much more to this story than the money and bounty hunters after him. But it shows the pain and suffering Vash The Stampede holds from a past long before the time of earth.
Their are basically 3 outstanding support characters who are Milly Thompson, Meryl Stryfe and Nicholas D. Wolfwood. They all have their roles towards vash as the story progresses making none of them seem pointless.

Story = 9/10
It's a wonderful story of a man who is blamed for things he had not committed. At first he doesn't ever fight until around 6 episodes where he is pushed to his limit and forced to shoot his gun for the sake of someone's life. Although some episodes seem fillerish they all have a purpose towards the greater plot.

Characters=8/10
They are all wonderful characters but of course the 2 supporting characters from some stupid insurance agency are annoying as ever. But the main character along with Nicholas D Wolfwood make up for it with their great skill with a gun.

Music= 4/10
Nothing from the soundtrack really sticks with me.... but who needs the music when ur watching fight scenes????

Graphics=7/10
It was made in 1998 so it was considered awesome back then but nowadays the quality of the animations seem less vibrant.

Overall= 8/10
Great anime with horrid ending battle (no dramatic music playing) that should be absolutely considered to watch especially as an English dub because your tired of reading subtitles

SadistiX's Karas Review

It is still on-going and at only 3 episodes released. However, DO NOT let that deter u from watching it because Karas is the COOLEST action anime ever. Trust me on that.
Why is it the coolest?
Here's why:
- Gfx: The graphics of this anime beat shows such as Zegapain hands down! Unlike FF7 Advent Children, this show's 3D-cum-2D (the latest technique used by animators). So, those of u who are used to 2D backgrounds, watch this show and see good ol' anime come to life in 3D form!
- Fights: Totally awesome. Moves are based off real-life martial arts (they claim, im not sure, but its awesome still). There's magic involved and it's as beautiful as it is deadly. Makes Bleach fights look like cat fights.
- Story: YES! This show HAS a plot. The reason why most of you cannot comprehend the first 2 episodes is because a reverse, non-linear story-telling method is used. However, because the show isn't long, the characters are very simple and one-sided.
- Soundtrack: Adrenaline-pumping musical scores! Original orchestral scores! Sets the right mood for the whole show. Makes the fights all the more exciting! ^^

I will give this show a 9/10.

Wispy's Elfen Lied Review

Okay i spent a lot of time thinking about what to put as the first review here, I mean if this becomes big (which I'm hoping it will be) I want to be able to say the first review meant something to me (i was thinking just copying+pasting my fate/stay night review but no!) so what am i going to put as my first review.... my first ever da anime download Elfen lied - brings back good memories right? ^^

Elfen lied is an amazing anime, if you haven't watched it yet you simply must! IT has everything you could ever want, blood and gore, a GOOD storyline, funny and cute moments,sad moments but also those rare moments in a show where you feel can they show this stuff?

Let me paraphrase from a magazine i once read: elfen lied has an amazing feel to it, when you see Nyuu you feel happy and laugh but When Lucy appears you feel disturbed/terrified (and indeed I did).

Beware the following contains a spoiler:

An example would be about half way though the first episode in the opening you see Lucy naked and the way she's drawn (and probably the music) you feel kind of intimidated but after you see her alter ego, Nyuu you just can't help laughing! it is quite extraordinary

I warn you this anime is disturbing not for the faint hearted, not only is their blood and gore but also a lot of psychological stuff into the mix, which i find is another rarity, Its 100% not one to show to your kids or someone's first anime

I give this anime a 9.5/10 and must watch!

Well guys what do you think, did the spoiler tag work, are the comments working? Was the review too short, too long or just right. Do you even like the idea - I want your comments :D
